Rep. Gilliard to Host “Empowerment Series” Event to Combat Poverty in Chatham County

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Garden City) will host two “Empowerment Series” events to help Chatham County residents break the cycle of poverty. The event schedule is as follows:

  • “Disadvantage Business Enterprise” certification class by the Georgia Department of Transportation Supportive Services TOMORROW, Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Empowerment Center in Garden City;
  • Georgia Dream Program workshop by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Empowerment Center in Garden City.

The “Empowerment Series” events are geared towards providing Chatham County residents with resources to help them move towards financial stability. Participants can earn a “Disadvantage Business Enterprise” certification at the event, as well as enroll in the Georgia Dream Program for opportunities to work in the state and housing assistance.
