ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) recently co-sponsored House Bill 7, legislation that would eliminate the state income tax on retirement income received as retirement benefits from military service of the United States, including any survivor benefits.
“In recent years, the House has lead the way on military-friendly initiatives and legislation,” said Rep. Glanton. “HB 7 is yet another military-friendly bill that will allow for a better quality of life for Georgia’s military personnel. Alleviating the tax burden on our selfless veterans is the least we can do to repay them, and I am proud to co-sponsor this bill.”
House Bill would be applicable to taxable years beginning on January 1, 2020 and ending on December 31, 2030.
