Rep. Houston Gaines Elected House Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman

ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus today re-elected State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens) as Vice Chairman of the House Majority Caucus for the 2025-2026 legislative term.

“I am honored by the opportunity to serve again as the Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman and to have the confidence of my colleagues in the Republican Caucus,” said Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman Gaines. “Last week, House Republicans had a decisive victory at the ballot box, retaining a strong majority in the House – a testament to House Republicans continuing to deliver sound policy to help all Georgians. Our House leadership team will maintain our focus on strengthening our economy, investing in public safety and improving educational outcomes in our state. I look forward to another productive legislative session when we return to the Capitol.”

In this role, Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman Gaines facilitates member services and helps oversee the political efforts of the Majority Caucus, including incumbent re-election, candidate recruitment and caucus fundraising. Additionally, Majority Caucus Vice-Chairman Gaines presides over Majority Caucus meetings in the absence of the chair.

Representative Houston Gaines currently represents the citizens of District 120, which includes portions of Barrow, Clarke, Jackson and Oconee counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the House Majority Caucus and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education. He also serves on the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Ethics, Governmental Affairs, Insurance, Public Health, Urban Affairs and Ways & Means committees.
