Rep. Howard to Participate in Interchange Dedication Ceremony for Late Jessye Norman

ATLANTA – State Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard (D-Augusta) will participate in an interchange dedication ceremony in honor of Jessye Norman, the late African American opera singer, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts (Ann and Ellis Gallery) in Augusta.

This ceremony is hosted by Elaine Norman Sturkey and James Howard Norman. At the ceremony, there will be a reading by students of the Jessye Norman School along with music and refreshments.

During the 2021 legislative session, the Georgia General Assembly resolved and enacted that the interchange between Interstate 20 and Washington Road in Richmond County will be dedicated as the Jessye Norman Memorial Interchange.
