UGA chapter of the Blue Key Honor Society
ATLANTA- Rep. Jerry Keen was recently awarded the Blue Key Service Award by the University of Georgia Chapter of the Blue Key Honor Society at the 2009 Tucker Dorsey awards banquet held October 2, 2009. The award is presented to individuals who have made a major contribution to the University, the state and nation.
“I am honored to be recognized by a prestigious organization like the Blue Key Honor Society and to join such an accomplished group of previous award winners,” said Rep. Keen. “An award like this is truly a once in a lifetime privilege.”
Former award recipients include Carl Sanders, former Governor of Georgia; Carl Vinson, Former U.S. Representative from Georgia; S. Truett Cathy, Founder and President of Chick-fil-A, Inc; Zell Miller, former Governor and U.S. Senator; and Clarence Thomas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
“In an age of combative and harshly partisan politics, Representative Keen has been a voice of reason and a person to find pragmatic solutions rather than hide behind partisanship in the General Assembly,” said Michael Adams, President of the University of Georgia. “For his commitment to public service and for his support of public higher education in Georgia, we are pleased to recognize him with this Blue Key Award.”
