Rep. John Carson Named Vice Chairman of House Energy, Utilities, & Telecommunications Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative John Carson (R-Marietta) as the Vice Chairman of the House Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee. Rep. Carson currently serves as a member of the House Transportation and Ways & Means committees, as well as Secretary on the Insurance Committee and Vice Chairman on the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee.

“It is an honor to be appointed Vice Chairman of the House Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee,” said Rep. Carson. “I appreciate Speaker Ralston’s confidence and look forward to working with Chairman Don Parsons on common sense legislation to benefit Georgia’s consumers of energy and telecommunications.”

The House Energy, Utilities, & Telecommunications Committee, chaired by Rep. Don Parsons (R-Marietta), is responsible for legislation concerning the electric and gas utilities, as well as telecommunications providers.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative John Carson represents the citizens of District 46, which includes portions of Cobb and Cherokee counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2011, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Energy, Utilities, & Telecommunications and Intragovernmental Coordination committees, and Secretary on the Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Ways & Means and Transportation committees. Rep. Carson is also Chairman of the Cobb County Legislative Delegation.
