Rep. John Corbett Appointed to House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative John Corbett (R-Lake Park) to the House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure.

“I look forward to working with the members of this committee as we look at ways to protect our state’s military bases,” said Rep. Corbett. “Not only are the bases important to our local communities, but they are vitally important to our national security. District 174 is situated between Kings Bay Naval Base and Moody Air Force Base, and every day I see the tremendous impact that these bases have on the lives of our citizens and our economy. It is essential that we protect these resources within our state at all costs.”

This fifteen member study committee, Chaired by State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead), is established by House Resolution 1135 and will examine how to protect Georgia’s military installations from a future federal base realignment and closure action.
