ATLANTA – State Representative Karen Bennett (D-Stone Mountain) was recently a guest on WAOK’s “Press Pause” morning radio show to discuss her sponsorship of House Bill 134, also known as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Bill. HB 134 would provide incentives for employers to hire job seekers who might ordinarily face employment barriers.
“It was an honor to speak about this important legislation on the WAOK’s popular ‘Press Pause’ radio show,” said Rep. Bennett. “I am especially proud to be sponsoring a bill that has the potential to positively change so many lives, families and communities.”
HB 134 would provide a state Work Opportunity Tax Credit for private sector employers who hire job seekers from specified target groups that face employment barriers. Veterans and ex-felons are among the target groups listed in the bill.
“I believe HB 134 could provide more opportunities for individuals who have been previously incarcerated, who are well-qualified and are just trying to get back on their feet,” continued Rep. Bennett. “This legislation could also help to improve the quality of lives of veterans who are still having difficulty finding employment after the end of their tour of duty.”
