Rep. Katie Dempsey Recognizes American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day at the Capitol

ATLANTA – State Representative Katie Dempsey (R-Rome) recently sponsored HR 121, a resolution recognizing the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement and National Wear Red Day. Members of the General Assembly wore red at the State Capitol on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in support of National Wear Red Day.

“I was happy to see so many of my colleagues wearing red at the capitol on Wednesday,” said Rep. Dempsey. “Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, and it is crucial that we continue to raise awareness for this issue and encourage women to make healthy behavior changes to decrease their risks.”

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement will celebrate the 12th National Wear Red Day on February 6, 2015 by urging all women across America to wear red in an effort to increase awareness of heart disease in women. On Wednesday, Rep. Dempsey and other members of the House of Representatives wore red at the capitol to celebrate National Wear Red Day, as the House was in recess on Thursday and Friday.
