ATLANTA – House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) recently appointed State Representative Kasey Carpenter (R-Dalton) to serve as vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
“I am humbled by the opportunity provided by Speaker Burns and House leadership to serve as vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee,” said Rep. Carpenter. “I look forward to learning from and working alongside Chairman Hatchett and the other subcommittee chairs. As always, our goal is to ensure that taxpayers’ hard-earned money is spent wisely and efficiently.”
The main focus of the House Appropriations Committee is the writing of the state’s amended and general fiscal year budgets for Georgia’s state agencies and departments. The committee also hears legislation that has considerable impact on the state revenue or expenditures.
