ATLANTA – State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick (D- Lithonia) will host a tour event to highlight multiple Black-owned farms around Southwest Georgia on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. For information about each tour location, members of the press must contact Rep. Kendrick at dar’shun.kendrick@house.ga.gov.
This will be the second Black-owned farm tour. Rep. Kendrick will co-host this next tour event with Katie Kissel, Nicole Clark, State Representative Doreen Carter (D-Lithonia) and Wayne Swanson. Members of the press are not required to purchase tickets to attend. Tickets are limited and available to the public online here. Members of the press will be responsible for their own transportation; transportation to each site will only be provided for ticket holders.
The tour will begin at Chattahoochee Hills Charter School in Fairburn. Participants will then travel to the Village Community Garden in Sylvester, followed by a visit to Dollison Farm that produces Warrior Creek Premium Meats in Poulan. Participants will have an opportunity to directly engage with each farmer about their personal stories, successes, failures, inspiration and vision for the future of urban agriculture. Those who attend can also buy farm fresh products from each farm.
Rep. Kendrick hosted the first Black-owned farm tour earlier this year. Learn more about the first tour here.
