Rep. Kevin Tanner Named Vice Chairman of House Motor Vehicles Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Kevin Tanner (R-Dawsonville) as the Vice Chairman of the House Motor Vehicles Committee.Rep. Tanner currently serves as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, as well as on the Education, Natural Resources & Environment, and Special Rules committees, and Secretary on the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee.

“I am humbled that the Speaker and the Committee on Assignments appointed me to this important position in the House,” said Rep. Tanner. “I have a great deal of respect for Chairman Rice, and I look forward to working with him in a leadership role.”

The House Motor Vehicles Committee, chaired by Rep. Tom Rice (R-Norcross), deals with issues concerning Driver’s Licenses, Motor Carrier laws, and the Uniform Rules of the Road. It also deals with laws pertaining to motor vehicle tags, their titles, and registration.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Kevin Tanner represents the citizens of District 9, which includes portions of Dawson, Forsyth, and Lumpkin counties. He was elected in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Motor Vehicles Committee and the Secretary on the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Education, Special Rules, and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
