Rep. Kim Schofield Receives National Black Caucus of State Legislators’ Regional Legislator of the Year Award

ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently received the Regional Legislator of the Year Award from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL). Rep. Schofield was presented with the award during the caucus’ 46th Annual Legislative Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2, 2022.

“I am honored to receive this award from my colleagues in the National Black Caucus of State Legislators,” said Rep. Schofield. “The NBCSL has been an excellent resource for me as I work to elevate the voices of African Americans at the Georgia State Capitol, and I look forward to continuing to advance legislation that reflects, supports and addresses the needs of African Americans.”

This award is given annually to recognize the legislative achievements and contributions made by a current member of NBCSL. Rep. Schofield was selected for her leadership and dedication to the advancement of NBCSL’s legislative agenda. The award was renamed the Thomas S. Boyland Legislator of the Year Award in 1983 in memory of the late New York assemblyman.

The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) is the nation’s premier organization representing and serving the interests of African American State legislators. With more than 700 members representing more than 60 million Americans, NBCSL serves as a national network, advocate and catalyst for public policy innovation, information exchange and joint action on critical issues affecting African Americans and other marginalized communities. Representative Kim Schofield represents the citizens of District 60, which includes portions of Clayton and Fulton counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2017 and currently serves on the Health & Human Services, Interstate Cooperation, Information and Audits and Small Business Development committees.
