ATLANTA – State Representative Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, marking her first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 157th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.
“I am thankful to Speaker Burns and the entire Committee on Assignments for their keen awareness to issues that directly affect House District 117,” said Rep. Daniel. “As I begin my first term in office, I am excited about the important committees I have been appointed to, and I look forward to the ways I am able to serve my constituents.”
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Daniel as the Secretary of the Education and State Planning & Community Affairs committees. She also serves on the Transportation Committee.
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Representative Lauren Daniel represents the citizens of District 117, which includes portions of Henry and Spalding counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as the Secretary of the Education and State Planning & Community Affairs committees. She also serves on the Transportation Committee.
