ATLANTA— State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) was recently awarded the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation President’s Award. Rep. Smith received this award during the 35th Annual Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Luncheon on December 11 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel.

“I am honored to receive such esteemed recognition from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation,” said Rep. Smith. “As Chair of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, the health of Georgia’s environment is one of my top priorities.”

Presented by Kevin Perry, president of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, the President’s Award recognizes one individual who has made outstanding contributions in support of the Keep Georgia Beautiful System and provided leadership in the environmental sector.

“Representative Smith has been a great protector of Georgia’s environment and supporter of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation,” said Perry. “She champions sound environmental policies that protect Georgia’s environment as well as Georgia’s economy. She is also one of the biggest supporters of the KAB system under the Gold Dome and has consistently championed our causes and supported this organization and its affiliates.”

Keep Georgia Beautiful is the first and largest state network of Keep America Beautiful affiliates. The nonprofit public-private partnership unites civic, government, and business leaders across the state in an effort to beautify and green communities, prevent litter, decrease waste, increase recycling, and protect water quality. Keep Georgia Beautiful’s annual awards ceremony recognizes outstanding efforts in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling and community improvement.
