ATLANTA – State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) invited the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce to be honored on the floor of the House of Representatives to congratulate them on being named the National Chamber of the Year. Rep. Smith recognized members of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 and presented them with House Resolution 984. She was joined by Rep. Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City, District 72), Rep. David Stover (R-Newnan, District 71) and Rep. Bob Trammel (D-Luthersville, District 132).
“The Newnan-Coweta Chamber made history in Georgia by winning this award, and I am so proud to recognize their organization for such an incredible distinction,” said Rep. Smith. “The Newnan-Coweta Chamber is a thriving business force in our community, and Candace Boothby and her team do an incredible job. I was honored to have them as my guests and to share their great success with my colleagues in the House.”
The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in Coweta County, serving almost 900 business members throughout the county. The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce is the first Chamber of Commerce in Georgia to receive the National Chamber of the Year Award, presented annually by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
The National Chamber of the Year Award is presented to the chamber that demonstrates organizational strength and makes an impact on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, business development and quality of life. More than 7,500 chambers of commerce competed worldwide in the three-round process, with the field narrowed to 33 for the final nomination, including chambers from Canada and Europe. The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce was chosen as the 2015 National Chamber of the Year in a ceremony on August 12, 2015 in Montreal, Canada.
