ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently reappointed State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) as the Chairman of the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee. Rep. Smith will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and the Special Committee on Election Integrity, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment and Rules committees.
“I am honored that Speaker Ralston and House leadership have put their trust in me to not only maintain my title of Chairman of the House Natural Resources & Environment Committee but to also serve on five other key committees in the Georgia House of Representatives,” said Rep. Smith. “Although it will be a lot of work to serve on so many important committees, I am ready to tackle this work and intend to give each committee my undivided attention as these policy areas are important to my district. I am thankful for the citizens in House District 70 who have expressed their concerns to me and look forward to addressing their needs as various legislation moves through the legislative process.”
The House Natural Resources & Environment Committee is charged with reviewing and developing legislation pertaining to management, quality and usage of Georgia’s natural resources.
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Lynn Smith represents the citizens of District 70, which includes portions of Carroll and Coweta counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1996 and currently serves as Chairman of the Natural Resources & Environment Committee. She also serves on the Special Committee on Election Integrity, Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Creative Arts & Entertainment and Rules committees.
