Rep. Mack Jackson Named Vice Chairman of the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Mack Jackson (D-Sandersville) as the Vice Chairman of the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee. Rep. Jackson will also serve as a member on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Rules and Small Business Development committees.

“I am grateful and excited that Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments have given me the responsibility and honor of serving as vice chair of such an esteemed and important committee,” said Rep. Jackson. “My district reaches across seven counties, so I understand personally how the needs of local governments can vary. Over the last several years, I have enjoyed being a member of the House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee, and I am excited to transition to a leadership role to help further legislation that is important to me and my constituency.”

The House State Planning & Community Affairs Committee assists and drafts general legislation that affects Georgia’s local governments.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Mack Jackson represents the citizens of District 128, which includes Glascock, Hancock, Warren and Washington counties and portions of Jefferson, Johnson and McDuffie counties. He was elected in 2008 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Planning & Community Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Rules and Small Business Development committees.
