ATLANTA – State Representative Mesha Mainor (D-Atlanta) today expressed her support for Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Bond’s proposed legislation to enhance security at the Georgia State Capitol complex.
“As a member of Atlanta’s legislative delegation, I am thankful for the leadership of Councilmember Michael Bond,” said Rep. Mainor. “I support his new legislation to help law enforcement secure the Capitol and agree that this location requires heightened security and controls. The collaborative effort between the state and City of Atlanta to protect lawmakers and legislative staff is highly appreciated.”
Rep. Mainor supports Councilmember Bond’s proposed legislation to give the state control of the portion of Mitchell Street between the Coverdell Legislative Office Building and the State Capitol. In return, the state would make upgrades to portions of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, which is located in Rep. Mainor’s House district. The proposed improvements would include 3.5 miles of safety improvements, such as sidewalk upgrades.
Representative Mesha Mainor represents the citizens on District 56, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves on the Education, Governmental Affairs and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
