ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton) as the Chairman of the House Juvenile Justice Committee.
“I am excited for the opportunity to lead in this policy area that is so vital to the state’s children and families,” said Rep. Ballinger. “I appreciate the confidence shown by the Committee on Assignments, especially that of Speaker Jon Burns and Rules Chairman Richard Smith.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The Juvenile Justice Committee is tasked with making sure Georgia is the best place for children and families. This committee oversees legislation that protects the rights of juveniles and ensures that the needs of the state’s most vulnerable population are being met. This also includes matters in juvenile courts.
Additionally, Rep. Ballinger was named as the Vice Chair of the House Rules Committee, which determines which bills should be scheduled for a vote on the House floor.
