Rep. Marcus Wiedower Named Vice Chairman of the House Transportation Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the vice chairman of the House Transportation Committee for the remainder of the 2021-2022 legislative term.

“Transportation has been one of my top priorities since I first ran for office, and therefore, I am truly honored to serve in this new role,” said Rep. Wiedower. “Georgia has made great strides in recent years to improve our transportation infrastructure, but there’s more work to do. Serving Clarke and Oconee counties has given me a firsthand view of the great work done locally but also provides insight into the additional transportation needs for our state. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the General Assembly to continue moving the needle on transportation infrastructure in our state.”

This committee oversees legislation dealing with the Georgia Department of Transportation and its operations. The committee also handles legislation regarding Georgia’s roads and infrastructure.
