Rep. Margaret Kaiser Supports ‘Coming Together’ Through Bipartisan Bike Ride

ATLANTA— State Representative Margaret Kaiser (D-Atlanta) and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle will partner to host the ninth annual National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) Bipartisan Bike Ride during the NCSL Legislative Summit on Thursday, August 15, 2013.

“NCSL’s Bipartisan Bike Ride is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of ‘coming together’ to promote health and wellness and address obesity not only here in Georgia, but to all of the NCSL guests from across the country,” said Rep. Kaiser. “I am truly honored to help host an event that speaks volumes as to what we can accomplish when we ‘ride together.’”

In support of active and healthy lifestyles, the bike ride will take 150 legislators and their family members on a cycling tour of Atlanta. The tour will feature iconic parts of the city, and highlight Georgia’s efforts in the fight against obesity, such as the Atlanta Beltline, SHAPE programs, and the Healthy Kids Georgia Program.

Partnerships for the Bipartisan Bike Ride include the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Coca-Cola Company, the Georgia Beverage Association, the Healthy Schools Program, and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle.

“In order to find solutions addressing the obesity issue amongst all Georgians, especially children, it is going to take everyone – government, businesses, communities, parents, and schools,” said Rep. Kaiser. “We are strengthening these partnerships today through the Bipartisan Bike Ride to make a meaningful impact.”
