ATLANTA- Representative Mark Hamilton (R- Cumming) has been appointed Chairman of the Employment Security and Unemployment Insurance Subcommittee. He has also been selected to be the Vice-Chairman of the Special Subcommittee on Transportation Funding.
“I am pleased to be in a leadership position on these great subcommittees,” said Rep. Hamilton. “With our current economic struggles, the issues being confronted by these subcommittees are more important and pressing than ever before. I look forward to working with my colleagues to create a new transportation funding process and to assisting our workers and businesses in our recovering economy.”
As Chairman of the Employment Security and Unemployment Insurance Subcommittee, Rep. Hamilton will deal with benefits and insurance issues. As Vice-Chair on the Special Subcommittee on Transportation Funding, Rep. Hamilton will aide in working to improve funding matters within the transportation system.
Mike Coan (R- Lawrenceville), Chairman of Industrial Relations Committee, said he named Rep. Hamilton to Chair the Employment Security and Unemployment Insurance Subcommittee because, “Rep. Hamilton has shown great dedication throughout his time working on subcommittees, and I feel that he is more than ready to be a leader and make pertinent changes. This subcommittee is a natural fit with Rep. Hamilton’s years of private business ownership experience in the staffing industry.”
Vance Smith, Jr. (R-Pine Mountain), Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, said he named Rep. Hamilton Vice-Chairman of the newly created Special Subcommittee on Transportation Funding because, “Rep. Hamilton has worked hard on transportation since joining the House two years ago, served on the Joint Transportation Funding Study Committee, and has worked hard with me and others on the newly proposed HB 277, The Georgia 20/20 Transportation Act.”
