Rep. Marvin Lim Appointed to House Study Committee on Safety & Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry

ATLANTA – State Representative Marvin Lim (D-Norcross) was recently appointed by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Study Committee on Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry.

“The need to protect tree care professionals is evident by what’s happening right here in our backyards (and front yards) in Norcross, where we have a robust landscaping industry,” said Rep. Lim. “Our diverse, often immigrant tree care professionals are doing difficult, essential work, and we need to do more to protect them. I’m excited to bring my experience in workplace safety to bear to this committee.”

Established under House Resolution 473, the House Study Committee on Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry is tasked with the responsibility of conducting a study to develop possible solutions to preventing additional injury and even fatalities within the tree care sector in Georgia. The committee will have the opportunity to submit their findings into proposed legislation during the 2025 legislative session.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock), David Huddleston (R-Roopville) and Bill Yearta (R-Sylvester).

Representative Marvin Lim represents the citizens of District 98, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Health, Retirement and Urban Affairs committees.
