Rep. Matt Dubnik Appointed to Deputy Whip Team for the 2019-2020 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the House Majority Caucus Deputy Whip team. Rep. Dubnik was appointed to serve on the Whip team by House Majority Whip Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown), and his appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.

“It’s an honor to continue to serve the people of the 29th House District. Being asked by Whip Kelley and Speaker Ralston to serve the Majority Caucus is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly,” said Rep. Dubnik.

“I’m honored to have Representative Dubnik serve alongside me on the House Majority Caucus Whip team,” said Whip Kelley. “Representative Dubnik is a small business owner and a committed volunteer in his community. I am confident he will be an asset to our Whip team and our state.”

Members of the Deputy Whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions. 

The Deputy Whip team will include Reps.: Mark Newton (R-Augusta), Chief Deputy Whip; Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville); Michael Caldwell (R-Woodstock);  Kasey Carpenter (R-Dalton);  David Clark (R-Buford); Jeff Jones (R-Brunswick);  John LaHood (R-Valdosta); Karen Mathiak (R-Griffin); Marc Morris (R-Cumming); Jason Ridley (R-Chatsworth); and Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs).

In addition to being appointed to serve as a member of the House Majority Caucus Deputy Whip team, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently named Rep. Dubnik as the Vice Chair of the Game, Fish & Parks and Juvenile Justice committees. He will also serve as a member of the Higher Education, Small Business Development and Interstate Cooperation committees.

“The task of taking on new committee assignments, including two leadership positions, is a privilege that will receive my full attention and unrivaled passion. I look forward to doing my part to continue elevating Georgia to even greater heights,” added Rep. Dubnik.

 Representative Matt Dubnik represents the citizens of District 29, which includes portions of Hall County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Game, Fish & Parks and Juvenile Justice committees. He is also a member of the Higher Education, Small Business Development and Interstate Cooperation committees.
