Rep. Matt Dubnik Named Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.

“What an honor it is to lead the investment in Georgia’s 1.8 million young learners,” said Rep. Dubnik. “The responsibility of overseeing more than $12 billion dollars in the state budget for K-12 education is a task that I am ready for and have prepared for during my time serving on the Appropriations Committee since 2019, as well as serving as the chairman of the House Education Committee since 2021. We will help all students, teachers and school systems to succeed, regardless of their zip code.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education assists with drafting budgets, specifically budgetary items related to Pre-K and K-12 education.
