Rep. Matt Dubnik Named Chairman of the House Education Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments recently named State Representative Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville) as the Chairman of the House Education Committee. Rep. Dubnik will also serve as Secretary of the Appropriations Committee and as a member of the Game, Fish & Parks, Higher Education, Interstate Cooperation, Juvenile Justice and Small Business Development committees. He will also serve as an Ex-Officio member of the Ways & Means Committee.

“Being appointed as the Chairman of the House Education Committee by the House Committee on Assignments is a tremendous honor that has been entrusted to me, and one I do not take lightly,” said Rep. Dubnik. “I believe that if you can impact the life of a child, you can impact us all. Sound legislation to benefit our educational system can not only help our students achieve their dreams but also lay the groundwork for Georgia’s future success. This committee is responsible for all aspects of legislation regarding Pre-K and K-12 education in Georgia.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Matt Dubnik represents the citizens of District 29, which includes portions of Hall County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Education Committee, as well as Secretary of the Appropriations Committee. He is a member of the Game, Fish & Parks, Higher Education, Juvenile Justice, Small Business Development and Interstate Cooperation committees. He also serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Ways & Means Committee.
