ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the House Majority Caucus Whip Team. Rep. Reeves was appointed to serve on the whip team by House Majority Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross), and his appointment is for a two-year term concurrent with his service as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
“I am excited to utilize my new leadership roles to amplify the voices of my constituents in House District 99,” said Rep. Reeves. “Serving in these positions will help me fight for Gwinnett’s taxpayers, and I look forward to focusing my efforts this session on advancing legislation that promotes academic excellence, discipline and safety in our schools.”
Members of the whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.
The Majority Caucus Whip Team also includes State Representatives Rob Leverett (R-Elberton), Chief Deputy Whip; Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robins), Brent Cox (R-Dawsonville), Clint Crowe (R-Jackson), Joseph Gullett (R-Dallas), Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons), Derrick McCollum (R-Chestnut Mountain), Devan Seabaugh (R-Marietta) and Bill Yearta (R-Sylvester).
In addition to being named a deputy whip for the House Majority Caucus, Rep. Reeves has been appointed to a new role to help advocate for families and schools in House District 99, which includes the Suwanee, Sugar Hill and Duluth areas. The Gwinnett House Legislative Delegation leadership team has named Rep. Reeves as one of the delegation’s liaisons for Gwinnett County Public Schools. During the 2023-2024 legislative term, Rep. Reeves will act as a point of contact for school systems to ensure their legislative priorities are considered.
Representative Matt Reeves represents the citizens of District 99, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Secretary of the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. He also serves on the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
