ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, marking his first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Rep. Reeves represents House District 99, which includes communities in Suwanee, Sugar Hill and Duluth in Gwinnett County. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 157th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.
“I look forward to serving as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and as a member on my appointed committees,” said Rep. Reeves. “I understand that public safety, school safety, quality of life issues and keeping Georgia the top place to do business are important to people in my district. As such, these committee appointments will help me fight for those priorities and for Gwinnett County’s taxpayers.”
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Reeves as the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Secretary of the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. He also serves on the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Rep. Reeves is a real estate and business litigation attorney at Anderson, Tate & Carr, a full-service law firm in Gwinnett County. He also served as Legal Counsel to Chairman Wendell Willard of the House Judiciary Committee in 2008 and on the Evidence Code Commission in 2009.
Representative Matt Reeves represents the citizens of District 99, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Secretary of the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. He also serves on the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
