ATLANTA – State Representative Meagan Hanson (R-Brookhaven) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2017, marking her first day of the 2017-2018 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 154th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.
“I am truly honored to have the privilege of representing the people of Brookhaven, Sandy Springs and Chamblee,” said Rep. Hanson. “I look forward to being their voice at the State Capitol for the next two years.”
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Hanson to the Judiciary; Special Rules; and Transportation committees.
“I hope that my constituents are as thrilled as I am with my committee assignments,” added Rep. Hanson. “We now have a seat at the table for transportation decisions happening in our area as well as around the state.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Meagan Hanson represents the citizens of District 80, which includes portions of DeKalb and Fulton counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves on the Judiciary, Special Rules, and Transportation committees.
