ATLANTA – State Representative Mesha Mainor (D-Atlanta) commends Frank Lebby (F.L.) Stanton Elementary School for recently being named a recipient of a Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Golden Grant. The Golden Grant program is exclusive to the Atlanta area and launched in 2018 to provide resources for teachers and other individuals who are committed to fueling and inspiring K-12 student learning.
“I am excited that Frank Lebby Stanton Elementary School was awarded $1,000,” said Rep. Mainor. “Dr. Phyllis E. Earls, principal, and her team of robust and energetic teachers and administrators give 100 percent of themselves to students every day. In a community riddled with crime and socio-economic barriers, Dr. Earls is always challenged with barriers of poor parental financial support. As a new state representative of House District 56, it is my priority to bridge corporate technology partners with Atlanta Public Schools to create opportunities for the underserved communities in my district.”
F. L. Stanton Elementary School serves the Mozley Park community in House District 56 and utilizes corporate partnerships to offset parent-teacher organizational help. According to the Georgia Department of Education’s 2019 School Level Data webpage, F.L. Stanton Elementary School is ranked 1599 out of 2257 K-12 public schools in Georgia.
This year’s Golden Grants program totals $40,000 in grant funding for top educational professionals in metro Atlanta. Since the program first launched in 2018, it has awarded $120,000 in grants and has helped impact thousands of students’ lives across metro Atlanta. The Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Operators Association, who donated to this cause, includes more than 50 owners, operators and operations managers and represents more than 270 restaurants across the Greater Atlanta area.
