Rep. Noel Williams Named Chairman of House Banks & Banking Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Noel Williams (R-Cordele) as the Chairman of the House Banks & Banking Committee.

“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the House Banks & Banking Committee and would like to thank Speaker Burns for his confidence he has placed in me,” said Rep. Williams. “Financial institutions play a vital role in all of our communities while serving as the driving force behind economic opportunities and workforce development. With that in mind, it is important that this committee operates by the first motto of the colony of Georgia: ‘Non Sibi Sed Aliis’ – not for self, but for others.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

The Banks & Banking Committee has jurisdiction of financial institutions, real property finance and corporate securities law.

Additionally, Rep. Williams was named as the Vice Chairman of the House Insurance Committee, which oversees policies that impact the state’s insurance industry.
