Rep. Pedro Marin Receives 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters

ATLANTA – State Representative Pedro Marin (D-Duluth) recently received a 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters, a statewide non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all Georgians by making conservation issues a top priority with Georgia’s elected officials, political candidates and voters.

“I am honored to have earned the Georgia Conservation Voters 2011 Environmental Leadership Award,” said Rep. Marin. “Over the past nine years I have worked diligently with leaders to ensure clean water and air, abundant wildlife, scenic landscapes, and economic opportunities for all Georgians. As a member of the General Assembly, I have the opportunity to make decisions about legislation that will affect the future of Georgia’s environment, and that is a responsibility that I take very seriously.”

Georgia Conservation Voters works with environmental and outdoor organizations across the state to develop shared legislative priorities each year. The legislators who received Environmental Leadership Awards were chosen based upon their votes and leadership on the common agenda.

“Representative Marin stood up for Georgia’s families this year and actively worked to promote an understanding among his colleagues of the need to protect Georgia’s environment as an integral part of preserving our way of life,” said Rob Teilhet, Executive Director of Georgia Conservation Voters. “Thanks to Representative Marin’s leadership, Georgia’s natural resources had a voice at the state capital.”

Representative Pedro “Pete” Marin represents the citizens of District 96, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and currently serves on the Banks & Banking, Economic Development & Tourism, and Industrial Relations committees.
