Rep. Rick Jasperse to Serve as Chairman of House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Transportation Infrastructure and Vehicle Regulation

ATLANTA – State Representative Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper), chairman of the House Transportation Committee, was appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as the chairman of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Transportation Infrastructure and Vehicle Regulation.

“Millions of vehicles miles are traveled daily throughout our state, relying on our transportation infrastructure to safely and effectively move people and goods,” said Chairman Jasperse. “These study committee meetings will give us an opportunity to spend more time outside of the legislative session carefully reviewing our transportation networks, which serve as a critical component of economic development. Georgia’s transportation infrastructure impacts residents and visitors alike, and I look forward to devoting time over the interim to delve deeper into this policy discussion to best support our transportation infrastructure for years to come.”

The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Transportation Infrastructure and Vehicle Regulation will evaluate Georgia’s transportation networks and regulations to improve efficiency, streamline utility right-of-way coordination, control costs and strengthen safety statewide.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Lauren McDonald, III (R-Cumming), Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville), Gary Richardson (R-Evans), Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain), Jutt Howard (R-Carrolton), Holt Persinger (R-Winder), Don Parsons (R-Marietta), Marvin Lim (D-Norcross) and Brian Prince (D-Augusta).
