Rep. Scott to Host “Put an End to Period Poverty” Feminine Hygiene Donation Drive

ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) will host the “Put an End to Period Poverty” donation drive event to collect feminine hygiene products on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Food Depot (parking lot) in Rex; Rep. Scott will be located near a Blue Dodge Ram truck.

“Women, young ladies and girls should not have to choose between buying groceries, paying bills or buying sanitary products,” said Rep. Scott. “Feminine hygiene products should not be a burden to females. They should be free. They are a need, not a want. According to Kotex, one in four women struggle to purchase period products. One in five low-wage women reported missing work, school or similar events due to lack of access to period supplies. Women are forced to use different alternatives like toilet tissue, paper towels, wash cloths, pillow cases and even socks. This should not be happening in House District 76, Georgia or the United States. Let’s put an end to period poverty in House District 76 and Georgia.”
