Rep. Sheila Nelson Sworn-in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2017-2018 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Nelson (D-Augusta) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2017, marking her first day of the 2017-2018 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 154th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Nelson to the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight; Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications; and Science and Technology committees.

“I am grateful for each of the committee assignments that I received,” said Rep. Nelson. “I think that my work on each of these three committees will bring benefits and positive change to the citizens of District 125, and I am excited to get to work.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Sheila Nelson represents the citizens of District 125, which includes portions of Richmond County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, and Science and Technology committees.
