Rep. Shelley Hutchinson Publishes Open Letter Demanding U.S. House Minority Leader McCarthy Relieve Marjorie Taylor Greene of Committee Assignments, Support Censure Resolution

ATLANTA – State Representative Shelly Hutchinson (D-Snellville) today published an open letter to U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy demanding that he relieve U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments. She also calls for Leader McCarthy to support U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams’ resolution to censure U.S. Rep. Greene as an act of bipartisanship and a way to show patriotism.

“If Leader McCarthy fails to take this action, it will mean that the ‘Party of Lincoln’ has now become the ‘Party of QAnon,’” said Rep. Hutchinson. “It is disgraceful for Republican leadership in Washington, D.C. to continue elevating these bizarre and deranged conspiracy theories. Our politics weren’t always like this. If Leader McCarthy wants to live up to the standard of his fellow Californian, Ronald Reagan, he will relieve U.S. Rep. Greene of her committee assignments and support the resolution censuring her.”

Rep. Hutchinson published the open letter in response to recent reports that U.S. Rep. Greene harassed adolescent victims of mass shootings, including calling them false flags. Rep. Hutchinson also seeks action after U.S. Rep. Greene reportedly endorsed calls for the execution of American political leaders, as well as her alleged involvement in the recent riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“Marjorie, who was only elected after she tried to run in an Atlanta district but failed, has gained notoriety for propagating a deranged conspiracy theory that many fellow Americans are engaged in a Satanic cabal,” added Rep. Hutchinson.
