Rep. Steven Sainz Issues Statement on Passing of Woody Woodside

ATLANTA – State Representative Steven Sainz (R-St. Marys) today issued the following statement on the recent passing of Woody Woodside, the longtime president of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce:

“Woody Woodside’s passion for coastal Georgia was unmistakable. Woody was the kind of leader who didn’t just talk about what was needed; he made it happen. With just a phone in hand, he could call upon leaders of every sector, in every bracket of our community. His unquestionable appreciation for each relationship he fostered and his unimpeachable intentions are why he was never ignored upon his request, or as he might say, his need for a ‘small favor.’ A favor never for himself but for what he believed in. Woody’s gift was his ability to forge and nurture those relationships. He believed in the power of connection and never hesitated to bring people together if he thought it would benefit them or enhance our community.

“Woody’s legacy, in many parts, is a network of friendships, partnerships and collaborations that will continue to thrive and benefit our part of Georgia for years to come.”

Representative Steven Sainz represents the citizens of District 180, which includes Camden County and portions or Glynn County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Chairman of the Special Rules Committee and as Secretary of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Governmental Affairs, Judiciary Non-Civil, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Technology and Infrastructure Innovation and Ways & Means committees.
