Rep. Stovall Hosts Career Fair in Clayton County

ATLANTA – State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) hosted a Career Fair on Thursday, September 19 at the Paradise Gymnasium & Cultural Center in Forest Park.

“Clayton County has one of the highest unemployment rates in Metro Atlanta, and I decided something needed to be done immediately,” said Rep. Stovall. “With the collaboration of my office and many partners from around our community, we were able to offer this event to help our citizens access amazing opportunities from employers.”

Rep. Stovall partnered with many organizations to bring over 30 companies, resource centers, and educational institutions to host the career fair. Sponsors of the event included Sisters In Action, Inc., Paradise Community Development Corporation, Georgia Department of Labor, The Collaborative Firm, and Clayton County Career Resource Center.

Over 200 job seekers from the surrounding Metro Atlanta area gathered at the Paradise Gymnasium & Cultural Center to explore advanced employment opportunities. Attendees ranged from high school graduates to graduate professionals, and positions showcased at the fair ranged from entry level to management.

“So many of the attendees were pleased with the fair,” said Rep. Stovall. “According to post surveys completed by the job seekers, over 90 percent of the career fair attendees requested more job fairs in the near future.”

Representative Valencia Stovall represents the citizens of District 74, which includes portions of Clayton County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Interstate Cooperation, and Small Business Development committees.
