Rep. Tom Kirby Named Vice Chairman of House Retirement Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Tom Kirby (R-Loganville) as the Vice Chairman of the House Retirement Committee.  Rep. Kirby currently serves as a member of the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Small Business Development, and Special Rules committees, Secretary on the Industry & Labor Committee, and Vice Chairman on the Human Relations & Aging Committee.

“It is an honor to be appointed Vice Chairman of the Retirement Committee, and I appreciate the confidence the Speaker and the Committee on Assignments have shown in me with this appointment,” said Rep. Kirby. “With my years of experience as a Human Resources professional, I am delighted to be able to use my expertise to serve the people of District 114 and the State of Georgia.”

The House Retirement Committee, chaired by Rep. Paul Battles (R-Cartersville), oversees both the Teacher’s and State Employee’s Retirement System.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Tom Kirby represents the citizens of District 114, which includes portions of Barrow, Gwinnett, Rockdale, and Walton counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and serves as the Vice Chairman on the Human Relations & Aging and Retirement committees and Secretary on the Industry and Labor Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Special Rules, and the Small Business Development committees.
