“It was a privilege to share the Constitution with the students from Northside Elementary and Westside Elementary,” said Rep. Kelley. “The U.S. Constitution is the framework for our nation and the envy of the world. I could not think of a better way to celebrate this day and honor our nation’s Founding Fathers than by educating the future of our nation about this sacred document.”

Also known as Citizenship Day, Constitution Day was founded in 2005 to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.  On this day, the U.S. Department of Education provides all schools receiving federal funds with educational materials to teach students the significance of the date and the document for which we celebrate.

Representative Trey Kelley represents the citizens of District 16, which includes portions of Bartow, Haralson, and Polk counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Banks & Banking, Code Revision, Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications, Health and Human Services, Ways and Means, and Judiciary committees.
