ATLANTA – State Representative Tyler Paul Smith (R-Bremen) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the vice-chairman of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee for the remainder of the 2021-2022 legislative term.
“I am truly humbled and honored to have been selected as the vice-chairman of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee,” said Rep. Smith. “This is perhaps the most important committee in the House as it affects our liberty in every bill we consider. I look forward to helping ensure that our laws continue to protect our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.”
The House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee has jurisdiction over Georgia’s criminal code and procedure, drug enforcement, sentencing, parole and pardons and immigration. Any legislation that carries a possibility for criminal penalties can be referred to this committee.

Representative Tyler Paul Smith represents the citizens of District 18, which includes portions of Carroll and Haralson counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. He also serves on the Insurance and Small Business Development committees.
