ATLANTA – State Representative Venola Mason (D-Stone Mountain) announces the completion of the second annual “IT On Ramp” STEM camp, presented by TECH CORPS in partnership with the Water’s Edge Homeowner’s Association in Stone Mountain, which was held from July 13 – July 24, 2026. Twenty students participated in the two-week program, which seeks to provide students with hands-on, career-focused technology experiences at no cost to their families.
“Economic opportunity in the 21st century runs directly through technology,” said Rep. Mason. “When our young people gain real skills in app development, cybersecurity and web design, we are not just teaching them a subject; we are opening doors to careers that can transform their lives and strengthen our entire community. Water’s Edge and the surrounding community is full of students with bright futures, and I am proud to bring resources like IT On Ramp directly to our community for the second year in a row. We are just getting started.”
IT On Ramp gave participating students the opportunity to explore the technology industry through interactive projects in app development, game development, cybersecurity and web design. Students engaged in real-world challenges that mirror career pathways in tech, building both technical skills and the confidence to see themselves as creators and innovators.
The program culminated in a showcase presentation in which students presented their completed STEM projects to their families and members of the Water’s Edge community and surrounding area. The event was designed to give participants the opportunity to demonstrate what they had built, explain their creative process and take pride in their accomplishments.
“We truly value our partnership with Water’s Edge and the opportunity to deliver our IT On Ramp program,” said Marcala Moore, program manager, Expansion Areas, IT On Ramp. “Each summer, we see students strengthen their technical skills, build confidence in creating with technology and discover that they belong in these spaces.”
Rep. Mason notes that the technology sector continues to be one of the fastest-growing and highest-paying areas of the American economy, yet access to quality technology education remains unevenly distributed. IT On Ramp seeks to close that gap by meeting students where they live, removing barriers of transportation and cost and delivering instruction that connects directly to the careers of tomorrow.
IT On Ramp is scheduled to return to the Water’s Edge community for a third year in summer 2027. While the program is hosted at Water’s Edge, it is open to children throughout House District 94. Rep. Mason encourages all House District 94 families to watch for registration information and to spread the word to neighbors whose children could benefit from the opportunity.
