ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) seeks to commend Dr. Alice White Bussey with a special resolution recognizing her accomplishments as a Black female business owner. Dr. Bussey will also be honored during the Pan African Trade Show and Investment Conference tomorrow, Saturday, August 20.
“We are blessed to have Dr. Alice Bussey, a business woman with a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience,” said Rep. Davis. “I appreciate the time she has spent helping me and others learn about business and politics. She has a long history of serving our community and is fitting for this special recognition.”
Dr. Bussey is the co-owner of Bussey Florist & Gifts and served as the first female president of the Atlanta Business League. Dr. Bussey was the organizer of Atlanta’s first Black Trade Mission led by former U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young. She was also the first Black federal representative for the Georgia Department of Labor.
Dr. Bussey became the first African American FTD (Florist Transworld Delivery) Florist in Atlanta, expanding its operations from a local retail shop to the international marketplace. She has also helped create more than 20 new businesses and has served as an active volunteer with many organizations that benefit minority business owners and professionals.

Representative Viola Davis represents the citizens of District 87, which includes portions of DeKalb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves on the Natural Resources & Environment, Insurance, Interstate Cooperation and Science and Technology committees.
