Rep. Viola Davis to Host Virtual Town Hall Meeting for DeKalb Homeowners on Short Term Rentals, Illegal Personal Care Homes, Boarding Houses

ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) will host an emergency virtual town hall for DeKalb County homeowners to discuss short term rentals, illegal personal care homes and boarding houses on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Advance registration is required; to register for Zoom access, please click here.

During the town hall meeting, Rep. Davis will discuss state legislation that may impact Georgia homeowners, including a legislative initiative to redefine “family” within Georgia’s zoning codes of single-family neighborhoods to permit six or more unrelated people in a household.

“Other elected officials and I need hear to from you about your feelings about PadSplits, short term rentals, illegal personal care homes and boarding houses because there are moves to draft state laws to bypass local control and change the definition of single-family neighborhoods and the definition of family,” said Rep. Davis. “I need you to know that your local city council and county commission would have no say on this issue, nor have the right to regulate these households if some of these state laws pass.”

Those who are unable to participate in the virtual town hall may email their comments, questions and/or concerns to viola.davis@house.ga.gov.
