ATLANTA – Yesterday the Committee on Assignments, chaired by Speaker Glenn Richardson, announced the committee assignments for the 2009 – 2010 legislative sessions. Representative Sean Jerguson was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee, Secretary of the State Institutions and Property Committee, and member of the Reapportionment; Health and Human Services; and Game, Fish and Parks Committees.
“I am humbled to be asked to serve on these vital committees and in the Vice-Chairman position on Regulated Industries,” said Rep. Jerguson. “While serving, I will continue to apply the same principled deliberation to all of the legislation that comes before the committees.”
The Committee on Assignments is chaired by the Speaker and includes several other members of House leadership. This committee is in charge of deciding House Floor seating, office, and committee assignments. The committee was first created in 2005 in an attempt to make a more open selection process.
“Congratulations to Representative Jerguson on his assignments and responsibilities as we start the 2009 Session,” said Speaker Glenn Richardson. “The assignments announced today represent the right balance of skills, leadership and experience to continue leading the House.”
