Democratic State Legislators Introduce Legislation to End Felony Disenfranchisement in Georgia
ATLANTA – State Representatives Josh McLaurin (D-Sandy Springs), Bee Nguyen (D-Atlanta), Gregg Kennard (D-Lawrenceville), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Rebecca Mitchell (D-Snellville) and Erick Allen (D-Smyrna) today filed legislation to end felony disenfranchisement in Georgia. These Democratic state legislators will hold a press conference to discuss the legislation TODAY, Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis mural in Atlanta (219 Auburn Ave NE). At the press conference, the bill sponsors will be joined by community leaders and activists and will give remarks about the significance of ending felony disenfranchisement.

Rep. Erick Allen Honored by Georgia Council on Substance Abuse with Renaming of Recovery Activist of the Year Award
ATLANTA – State Representative Erick Allen (D-Smyrna) was recently honored by the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA) through the establishment of the Erick Allen Recovery Activist of the Year Award. Rep. Allen was chosen as the namesake of the award for working as a champion for Georgia’s substance abuse recovery community, and he present the award during the GCSA’s annual luncheon.
