ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville), chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, yesterday visited the State Operations Center and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security (GEMA/HS) headquarters and received a briefing regarding Hurricane Ian’s path and potential impact on South Georgia. The State Operations Center, which was activated this week by Governor Brian Kemp and emergency management officials, is a Multi-Agency Coordination Center used by state, federal, local and volunteer agencies, as well as private sector organizations, to respond to disasters or emergencies that require a coordinated state response.

ATLANTA – State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) commends Governor Brian Kemp for creating the Georgia Jobs and Infrastructure Committees to advise on spending the federal coronavirus relief funds that were allocated to Georgia through the American Rescue Plan. Georgia industries impacted by COVID-19 will be able to apply for this state recovery funding during the month of August.

Reps. Houston, Greene Announce Upcoming FEMA COVID-19 Funeral Assistance
ATLANTA – State Representatives Penny Houston (R-Nashville), chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, and Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert), chair of the House State Properties Committee, today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide financial resources for families who incurred funeral expenses for a loved one who has died as a result of COVID-19 last year.
