ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Randy Nix (R-LaGrange) as the Chairman of the Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committee and Secretary of the Banks and Banking Committee. Rep. Nix will also serve on the Appropriations; Economic Development & Tourism; Education; and Natural Resources and Environment committees.

Rep. Randy Nix Keeps Promise, Scrap Tires to be Recycled into Rubberized Asphalt for Paving Georgia Roads

ATLANTA – State Representatives Randy Nix (R-LaGrange) announced today that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has amended the state’s road construction specifications to include recycled tire rubber as an alternative to conventional oil-based polymers for road asphalt production. Recycled tire rubber will be in widespread use as early as the 2012 paving season. Rubberized asphalt roads save money by reducing dependence on oil and will help Georgians reduce waste by recycling millions of scrap tires annually. Continue reading “Rep. General Assembly Passes Legislation to Ensure Career and College Readiness

ATLANTA – The Georgia General Assembly passed House Bill 186 on Thursday, April 14, 2011, by a vote of 154 to 4 in the House and a vote of 53 to 0 in the Senate. Sponsored by State Representatives Randy Nix (R-LaGrange) and Steve Davis (R-McDonough), this legislation establishes broader education options for high school students to ensure their career and college readiness by requiring a stronger coordination between high schools, colleges, and technical schools.
