MARTA employees contribute $30,000 to the House Helping Haiti Event

ATLANTA- House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced that the House Helping Haiti bi-partisan fundraising event raised a total of $46,302 to benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.  The event took place on Thursday, February 11th at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot and featured special guests Brian Finneran, Coy Wire and Ovie Mughelli from the Atlanta Falcons. Former House Speaker Tom Murphy to be Honored with Portrait in State Capitol
Unveiling event will commemorate late Speaker’s 86th birthday

ATLANTA— The Georgia House of Representatives will unveil a portrait of the late Speaker Thomas B. Murphy on Wednesday, March 10th, at 10:00 a.m. in the House chamber of the Georgia State Capitol.  The portrait will be on permanent loan from the Murphy family and the unveiling will commemorate the 86th anniversary of Speaker Murphy’s birth. Statement from Speaker David Ralston on DOR’s Review of Legislators Who Failed to File 2008 Personal Income Tax Returns

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston today released the following statement regarding the Georgia Department of Revenue report submitted to House Ethics Committee Chairman Joe Wilkinson concerning members of the General Assembly who did not file their 2008 personal income tax return:

“Upon receipt of the report from the Department of Revenue, House Ethics Committee Chairman Joe Wilkinson delivered the report to me. Legal counsel and I have reviewed the report, in conjunction with the law, and only one House member has not filed a personal income tax return with the Department of Revenue for tax year 2008. As provided by law, Chairman Wilkinson will conduct an appropriate investigation consistent with the rules of the House Committee on Ethics and report the findings to me.”
